Het Brouwdok 'Wad Weizen' | Hefeweizen | 5,5%
A weizen is the ideal beer to drink in the sun; it is light and fresh, but still wonderfully full of flavour. This beer is, like many classic German weizens, brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot, about which you will find more below.
The German Reinheitsgebot has existed since 1516, a law established by the Bavarian Duke Wilhelm IV. Many brewers of that time put all kinds of ingredients in their beer that actually did not belong there, to keep it cheaper, this was sometimes vegetable but also animal substances. The German Duke prohibited this and decided that beer in Bavaria could only consist of water, malted barley and hops. The law has since been abolished, but many German brewers still apply this law.
